Referencing Victorian lover’s eye portraits and mourning jewelry, Tears on China functions as both relic and witness. The eye does not plead; it endures. The tear reads less as vulnerability than as evidence—of attachment, of loss, of memory that refuses erasure. By embedding the image into an inherited domestic object, the work collapses boundaries between adornment, devotion, and possession.
